Naeto C's "Super C Season"

So, has the season changed or is the Season.. Off? Naeto Chikwe aka Naeto C recently dropped his second album under the label Storm 360 and Cerious music. This piece has been in the works for a long time. The album titled, Super C Season had received an overwhelming hype on most of the Social Networks including Twitter and Facebook. We all know Naeto C for the lingo, Yess Boss! and the Swag that goes with it but was this album enough to change the weather?. I do not to compare an artiste's album with older works so I will leave that to you. Has the Season Changed or do you prefer Naeto C's previous album?

Track Review..
Track 1: Super C Season..produced by Sarz
I have listened to this piece several times and it still feels something is missing in this intro.. The intro of an album is supposed to make a statement about the whole album and I expected something more special for the first track of such an anticipated album. The initial lines like ‘look in the sky, it’s a bird it’s a plane.. No, it’s Super C and the levels don change’ were creative and tried to tell the story of the album  but was not catchy enough. Subsequently lines like "Am Insane Amy Winehouse, U Want A Drink? I've Got A Wine House....Enough Free Shacks To Make Ur Memory Wipe 0ut" were on point. The song had creativity I will give it that especially with the twenty one "gbosa" concept on the final verse but in general, the song did not complement all the hype and Season change I expected.

Track 2: True (dem no fit do am)... produced by Dokta Frabz
Dokta Frabz was precise in the production and Naeto C did not disappoint, he flowed on the beat. The synchronization between the lyrics and the beats was near perfect. Very Smooth. The Rhyme fused with the lyrics also "Baby, tonite We doing Bespoke, My life is different now cos I'm Less Broke, Your boy be flowing like water, calling me Breastroke". This was original Naeto C, dem no fit do am like him. I feel Omawumi struggled with cohesion throughout her verses especially with her final verse. Nice song though.

Track 3: Ako mi ti poju (extended version)... produced by Dokta Frabz
Okay, we have all probably heard this one, the normal version without DaGrin. This song was all about the beats, no story, just rhyme.. The song won several nominations and awards when it was released as a single previously. What I like about this song is the technicality and production. He wasn't really saying anything but the beats by Dokta Frabz made the song. It also has a very good video to go with it. The late DaGrin killed the extension with his characteristic Yoruba rap style which we all knew him for. God Bless his soul.

Track 4: Carry your shoulder... produced by Tee-Y mix
This song tells a story which is the one of the qualities of a very good piece. In this song, he tells a story about his progress in life. The lesson to be learnt is just two words "Be Inspired" According to Naeto C, forming is allowed, even phoney. He also teaches us how to pronounce "Tufiakwa" in Queen's English.. lol. If you listen carefully though, this track is an inspirational song. Original Naeto C and flowing beats by the one and only Tee-Y mix.

Track 5: Ride tonite... produced by SoSick
The beat makes the song feel so American and guess what, SoSick can sing!. Legendary producer turn singer isn't bad at all when it comes to being an artiste. The cohesion between Naeto C's style and the beats and lyrics of Esosa Douglas aka Sosick was a perfect match. Great collaboration. This was another original Naeto C and it is one of my picks for the song of the album.

Track 6: Skimpololo... produced by Terry G
For Terry G fanatics, a great piece but For others, an #Fail. Having a track produced by Terry G is not a must and honestly, this track is like trying to mix oil and water, it does not flow. The contrasting styles is just too obvious. Its like a forced attempt. Naeto C tried to save it "Skimpololo, Wanna see you wine your tinkololo ..." but the energy of Terry G's style was obviosuly too much for him and took a toll on his usually meaningful lyrics.. "I don't speak French, so make we french kiss" huh? Was that a line by the Naeto C we are used to? YQ was a bit more composed though. The beats by Terry were as good as that of Free Madness but the collabo was poor. In summary, energy yes, but Terry and Naeto, C'mon, no cohesion, poor technicality and just the off track in the album. Qualifies for worst song of the album. Press skimp skip please.

Track 7: Duro... produced by Dokta Frabz
Girls, girls, girls.. This is the song about them.. When I heard this track for the first time, I thought it was YQ's song. I feel Naeto C was suffocated by his fellow Storm representa with his smooth flowing voice. Dokta Frabz was on point with the beats but part of the lyrics lacked originality. The whole "Champagne and Campaign" line is now so common both with indigenous and foreign artistes.. He dropped points on originality with the use of that line/rhyme.. No story, just fancy, nice collabo, nice beats, nice song.

Track 8: Afuru'm gi nanya (i luv u)... produced by Tee-Y mix
Now onto the love song of the album. When you listen to "Do Me" by P Square, "Thief My Kele" by Banky W and the more recent "One Naira" by M.I (All featuring Waje), I expected something special or even similar to these hit songs especially with the talented Waje on the track. Waje was okay but Naeto C didnt put enough on this track to make it a hit. His Igbo was lacking that smoothness, likeness and harmony to the ears that is usually associated with Igbo luv songs. Maybe he was still forming from the previous track "Carry your shoulder". Waje did most of the work on this track. Conclusion, a bit flat.

Track 9: 5 & 6... produced by Tee-Y mix
Another love song. From the title, I expected a more comprehensive act. I expected a love story to be told. Tee-Y mix's production was okay as usual, the chorus was okay but the song was also flat.

Track 10: Ten Over Ten... produced by Tee-Y mix
A club banger, arguably the hit song of the album. Original Naeto C. The cohesion was tight, the synchronization of the voice and the beats was on point. Like the title, a ten over ten piece. Tee-Y mix showed why he is one of the best in Naija with this one and Naeto C was on point in his lyrics. Originality, so Super C with lyrics like "Levels don change now, they cant hold me again cos I'm Ten over Ten". The Chorus was hot and the rap was even hotter. "I do like a maggi cube, spice up your life" Lyrics 100%, Originality 100%, Beats 100%.. Have you seen the video..? 100% too. Rating 10 over 10 Shikena.

Track 11: Deja Vu (our drinks)... produced by Ikon
Nice concept although I could easily compare Naeto C to Drake on this track especially with the first line. This song is all about rhyme and it lacked the usual originality of Naeto C "But I'm G4 gone, and the C4, blown, G5 memory so so cold" There was a soothing feel to the song though, thanks to the production of Ikon who is fast becoming one of the best producers in the industry today. An okay attempt. Can't still figure if he was trying to tell a story or just rhyming but i wish he shoots a video for the song that would be something to watch if he does.

Track 12: Share My Blessings.. produced by Tee-Y mix
A great and emotional song.. previously released as a single. This song tells a story! Naeto C talks about how "Tomorrow May be too late" and how we should keep that special person or friend in our lives close 'cos no one lives twice. Share My Blessings is one of my favorite tracks on the album and the song was blessed by the heavenly voice of Asa. Her talents were so obvious and it could only be her that could be featured on such a emotional and heavenly track. Original Naeto Lyrics like "I dont need a new cut to feel level headed" blended smoothly with Asa's Style. Nice one.

Track 13: Voodoo... produced by Sarz
Sarz was so accomplished on the beat, no wonder he is called Sarz on the Beat. The track has a nice flow. the lyrics and beats combination was smooth and lyrics like "Fake Love is worse than Hate" made the song! Naeto C talks about one important aspect of life on this track, Karma. And how it balances everything and every wrong.

Track 14: C me finish... produced by  Tee-Y mix
Fast paced.. great song. Naeto was original as usual and the lyrics and cohesion between beats and voice was great. "Like 7up, the difference is clear". Super C can keep on "drinking Rozay like its Zobo" they can't c him finish.

Bonus Tracks..
In Ride with me, produced by foreign producer, Pierre Boot, I expected more, especially with the inclusion of UK based Ghanaian Konvict artiste, Sway.. This one was below average. A bit flat but Naeto's verse was okay and smooth. I didnt even notice the other guy, Lukie D I think . The other Bonus tracks, Ex-Girlfriend produced by Dokta Frabz and Gidi is mine produced by VC Perez were equally flat. In Ex-Girlfriend, bars like "Keep your windows open like a PC" weren't matched with the Chorus by Dokta Frabz.. A far cry from the Ride tonite track done with producer/singer, SoSick.

Naeto C's album was a great compilation but I feel it did not meet up to the hype. It was a grossly overhyped work of art. When it comes to the lyrical aspect of music, everyone would probably agree that Naeto C is even smoother than the smoothest criminal and his flow has got swag. His originality and style are always on point but certain collabos like the Terry G combo were a turn off on this great compilation. However, other tracks like Ten over Ten which was a ten over ten piece and Share My Blessings were blessings to the album.

Originality 4/5

Cohesion 3/5

Technicality 5/5

Etcetera says “Yes I Am”

Yes I Am is Etcetera’s sophomore studio album. In this effort, Etcetera unites with one of Nigeria’s finest music producers and long-time collaborator Wole Oni. The album is recorded live in the studio with an A-list ensemble of musicians including legendary Pa Oscar Illimbi.

In a music clime dominated by digitally generated and enhanced music, it is refreshing to hear an entire album made of live music, carefully crafted with music which mixes modern world beats with retro-Nigerian styles. Yes I Am is best enjoyed with a tempered volume, a leveled mind, and in its incorrigible intensity it lifts the spirit and stirs the soul, speaking directly to the conscience.

With earnest emotions, Etcetera displays his creative genius as a song writer. He sings of a pleading love, an unyielding love, and a love fulfilled. In Third Eye Blind, the first single off the album, Etcetera proves that love doesn’t always have strong reasons and to those who would wish to intrude in his choice, he boldly asks, “What’s your business?” In 500 Letters, he sings of infidelity and a worst version of a woman’s scorn. Love me, love me, make me feel like a tourist in heaven; Kiss me right here, make me feel like a tourist in heaven, he pleads in Tourist in Heaven. Alibi is a delicate pop piece produced by Etcetera and Kraft; featuring fellow X3M (Extreme) Music artiste, OD.

Highly opinionated and unapologetically deep, Etcetera, in Ring the Alarm, cries,… there’s a thief in the government house. Ring the alarm, before they blame it on Mickey Mouse. … Portfolio filled with bills for thugs to kill, in the name of politics. He holds a mirror up for the society in Ghost Workers, “Benin City is now in Italy. Government is singing, people are dancing. Pick pocket and bankers scrambling for my money. Touts and police officers, we just have to pray. Mr. Megacity, Mrs. Rebranding, what’s the essence of beauty to the man who is dying? Turn off the TV, turn on reality. The good thing about this government, they make us laugh. Relentless, in Fungus Among Us, in poetry and in prayer for Nigeria, Citizen of heaven lives in hell. Who killed Abiola? Who killed Saro-wiwa? Who killed Dele Giwa? Fungus among us. O Lord, release the fungicide on fungus among us. Let it rain, let it rain.

In an era where the standard contribution consists of ill-considered compromises and most seem to have run out of ideas, Etcetera (with Yes I Am) stands out as one who with his craft and authentic social commentary would help shape the collective values of our nation. Etcetera has enormous talent, a genuine vision, an irrepressible message, a fierce ambition, and an unbending toughness. That’s unarguably the cocktail of a true artiste.

Yes I Am joins the rare league of class acts - its entire 63 minutes has no pointless moment, its melody haunting, and its message urgent and poignant. Etcetera succeeds in infusing soft rock into native Nigerian rhythms and creating thereof a sophisticated and respectable art form. Yes I Am helps usher back the golden age of Nigerian music. With Yes I Am, Etcetera has given us what he is – an absolute treasure.

Anticipated Albums of 2011

Panshak Zamani aka Iceprince is undoubtably the most anticipated artiste of 2011. After dropping the hot single Oleku which was arguably to hottest single of last year, many expect this choc boy to have a very successful debut album when he finally drops it. Formally a member of a music group called Ecomog Squad and Loopy, it wasnt long before he was discovered by Chocolate City. He has been in the music industry for a while though localized in Jos. His debut single Extraordinary, released in 2004 was a hit in Jos and made him known. But his performances at the Hennessy Artistry in 2009 was the stepping stone he needed as he was declared winner amongst other contestants like MoCheddah, Bez, Blaise and Jimmy Flames. Till date, he has already been featured by a number of artistes like Djinee, BankyW, Dekunle Fuji, M.I, Jesse Jagz, WizKid, YQ, eLDee and a host of others and is in high demand. 2011 would finally see Iceprince's album which is gonna shake Alaba most def. Its the birth of another choc great.

At just 19, it seems he has been around for quite a while. On a scale of 1-Skales.. He is a promising talent. He has already dropped a few singles like Heading for a Grammy, Be Mine and Ori Mi and has been featured in a number of songs. The kid is good. EME Representer, yes he's got the style, swag and hype. Signed to BankyW's label, Empire Mates Records.. The best is yet to come from him.

Naija's own Justin Bieber, Wizkid Ayo Balogun is like a twin to Skales but with a bit more hype. Yes the gurls love him and his songs.. Singles like Holla at your boi, Tease Me and Gidi Girl have rocketed his fan base on both Facebook and Twitter to thousands. He did a great video too.. Holla at your boi with a nice concept. He is also in high demand after doing nice verses on Jesse Jagz's Intoxicated and M.I's Fast Money, Fast Car. He is also an EME Representer and 2011 promises to be a nice year for the Musik Men (Empire Mates)

The younger brother to a legend in the industry, Don Jazzy. D'Prince also known as Omoba dropped a few singles last year that have been rocking the airwaves like Ooze, Omoba, It's Jonzing World, done with Iceprince and Wizkid and Give It to Me which featured his crew, The Mohits in its video. Being signed under Mohits counts for sure in Alaba and I am sure his much anticipated album would be a success just like his fellow Mohit members, Wande Coal and DrSID, judging by the quality and acceptance of his singles.

Evaaa Alordiah.. Young, full of energy, relentless and still unsigned. This young female rapper is a strong one and some fans have already tagged her as the best female rapper in Naija. She doesnt stop.. Releasing songs after songs.. and also doing videos here and there. She has also got a considerable commercial appeal. She caught alot of attention after appearing in Cartair's Owo ati Swagger Remix video. She is a rapper to watch out for this year with her Garbage In, Garbage Out EP in the works, she is one diva in the making. A combination of beauty and talent!

Multi-platinum selling and award-winning King of Soul, Darey Art Alade has already dropped a number of hot singles. After dropping a few singles like The Way You Are, Sisi ekoBa ni Kidi and Don't Let Me Know, it is still unclear if we expect his album out this year although there are reports that he plans to re-release his previous music in conjuction with a major international record label..2face style. His videos.... I need not tell you about the quality.. Undoubtably the best there is when it comes to music videos in Naija.

Little was known of this Nigerian female vocalist until she released the hit single Kele Kele Love and backed it up with a nice video. Signed to American label SONY USA, she has been based outside Nigeria . After being a background singer for artists like Mary J Blige, STING, Kelly Clarkson and the Spice Girls and working with A-list international acts like 50cent, Fantasia, AKON, Snopp Dogg, Beyonce and Black Eyed Peas, she has acquired a great deal of experience and is currently working on her debut album which she plans to use in propelling Nigerian Music on to the international stage in her own way.

2010 was spoiled with alot of diss and he's lyrical battle with Ruggedman ranked amongst the top. We await the release of his album this year Tradition II. Tradition [2009] to some was success but to others was a failure when compared to his previously released album, Gongo Aso. There has also been speculations that he is about to release two albums or should I say EPs titled Versus and Bashorun Gaa which most say would be directed at Ruggedman. Honestly, What happened to the 9ice of Street Credibility? Songs like Talk I'm Listening , a recently released single, are a far cry from his hit debut single, Gongo Aso-That was 9ice at his best. I feel this diss is taking its toll on him and my advise to dissing artistes has always been that they should concentrate on their music and fans.. 9ice has a fan base of over 28,000 on Facebook and is one of the most popular Naija Celebrities, we hope for the best from this traditional Yoruba performer.

With over 50 recorded songs under his belt, Naeto C is set to step up the gear in his second album, Super C Season. Yeah, the hype is there.. and Naeto C does not disappoint. He has already dropped few singles off the album including award winning single, Ako Mi Ti Poju, Ten Over Ten and Share My Blessings done with Soul singer, Asa. His first album, U Know My "P" was an instant success, released in 2007, it brought Naeto C to the limelight. Since then, this 10 over 10 MC has managed to bag his Masters degree at the University of Dundee, something he and his fans are all proud of! Swag, Talent and Brains all wrapped in one. Yess Boss.. The Season is about to change..

DaWizard's Top 10 Albums of 2010

It is 10 days to the end of the year, 2010 and I am gonna list the 10 best albums of the year 2010. This albums have been selected according to their ratings on DaWizard Chronicles which includes the artistes' originality and style, lyrics and beats, Quality in general and also on their commercial achievements and acceptance. The depth and substance of the album in general is the most important criteria for selection. All these were brought together to give these albums the edge over other albums produced this year..

10. Timaya's De Rebirth: The album though not as commercially successful as his first and second albums True Story and Gift and Grace, it made the list. With songs like Life Anagaga which means Life goes on which he featured MI and Plantain Boy. This album still brought big ratings. The song, Press was dedicated to the press obviously after having alot of paparazzi concerning his personal life and relationship. Track 4, Who Born U also had a nice video and Watta Bam Bam and Its about that time where equally nice.

DaWizard Rating

9. MoCheddah's Franchise Celebrity: This Fujirian's music has bagged her a couple of major awards already and at only 20. A few weeks back, she won the Best Gifted Female at the Channel O Music Video Awards and she won the Best New Act at the just concluded MTV Africa Music Awards (The MAMAs). The songs If you want me and Ko Ma Roll produced by Legendary Beats off the album contributed to its success. There were really hot and had alot of air play. Apart from these two songs and maybe What's your Fuji?, the other songs were not so spectacular but average. Her Fuji was on point though on the videos of both songs. Ko Ma Roll in particular. 2010 was definitely MoCheddah's year. Formerly a star, she has now attained superstar status.

8. Vector's State of Surprise: This album might have surprised some of you to get on this list but the S.O.S album was a five star album all round. Some may argue about its originality due to the fact that Vector sounds a whole lot like American Rapper JayZ but he clearly addressed that in the track Kilode. Get Down was one of my favorites featuring 2face. SamKlef was so right on the beat for Denge Pose. The Original and Remix versions of Mary Jane with General Pype were equally good. His videos were poor but the album on a whole was a great effort.

DaWizard Rating

7. Terry Tha Rapman's Boyz are not Smiling: BANS! This means "Boyz Are Not Smiling". The album was so huge, it even had a lingo introduced before it dropped and Terry was definitely not smiling in the videos too.. With BANS T shirts also released, Megaphunk records, Tha Rapman's record label had a wonderful year even though they were not smiling but Alaba definitely felt the Team BANS force. With tracks like Get up, done with MoCheddah, No Love, Someday and the award winning Sample Remix which he featuring Mr Sample himself Ekwe with Phero the great. The hype was there, commercially BANS delivered and the album itself was original. Its a rap album with some deep music.

DaWizard Rating

6. Dr SID's Turning Point: MoHITS Dr SID had a great year. Pop something was the hit song of the album and a hot club banger. There was hardly any club that you wouldnt hear "pop pop pop pop... pop pop.." at least once every friday for the 52 weeks of the year. This song to me was the club banger of the year.  Dr SID Esiri's album also had other highly rated songs like Over the Moon, Ba Mi Jo featuring Ikechukwu, M.I and eLDee and E Je Ka Jo featuring D'Banj. Something about you was another hit track off the album. There is no doubt that this album was a success especially commercially and hence gets the number 6 spot in the countdown.

5. Eldee's Is It Your Money?: According to his name  which means "My wealth is my future", Is it your money? is an album which must be given its due respect.. The Respect Me video off the album was directed by award winning director, Clarence Peters. I think it was a nice piece of work. Eldee is a don in the industry. The Nigerian American rapper and producer/ CEO of Trybes Record did the Big Boy Remix with Jasiel Robinson, popularly known as Yung Joc. I bet that was not an easy feat. He teamed up with NaetoC, Jimmz Flames and Dokta Frabz for Feel Good Music. One day (e go better) is another great tune on this album and tells a story about the corrupt nature of administration in the country and hope for the future of Nigeria.

4. Asa's Beautiful Imperfection: Most fans believe that when compared to her successful debut album Asha [2007], Beautiful Imperfection is less commercially inclined but slightly better crafted and technically slicker. This album was a success all the same. Tracks like Bamidele, Be My Man and Questions were just classic. It might not have been a commercial hit on the home front but this album is making waves all across Europe. It is has great acceptance in Germany, Belguim, Switzerland and even got shortlisted as the one of the albums of the year by iTunes France. Some fans even think that if she were a Westerner, this album would have landed her a Grammy nomination! Maybe time will tell.. Asa is the only female to make the list.

DaWizard Rating

3. Jesse Jagz's Jag Of All Tradez: Jargo's album was a success and finds itself on the number three spot in the countdown. Producer extraordinarie, Jagz dropped hits like L.O.V.E. U, Intoxicated with Wizkid, Greatest and the Choc Boys Anthem, Nobody Test Me. The Jargo video was a disappointment for some but he and his crew made it right in the Nobody Test Me video. The video just like the track was hot and was an introduction for Ice Prince Zamani.

DaWizard Rating

2. MI's MI2, The Movie: Despite the huge hype before the album dropped, MI2, The Movie couldnt make it to the top of the list probably due to the fact that it was released towards the end of the year or due to the unconfirmed reports that Chocolate City, MI's record label sold the distribution rights of the album to AHBU Ventures for a mere 20 Million Naira to distribute the album throughout the whole of West Africa!..Surely, that is too small compared the amount of hype this album received and status of MI. Whatever the case, MI2 was off the hook, from start to finish. A complete album or should I say an epic movie. Mr Incredible did not disappoint. Tracks like Anybody, Number 1, Epic, Undisputed and One Naira keep on banging on radio stations from Jos to Las Gidi. A five mic album from MI to wrap up a wonderful and yet another successful year for Chocolate City.

DaWizard Rating

1. 2face's The Unstoppable Album (International Edition): Awards don't lie.. Undoubtably the best Nigerian Artist in the industry today. 2baba's Unstoppable album won him several major awards this year including Best Pop Video (Implication) & Best Western at the Soundcity Awards, Most Gifted Western African at the Channel O Music Video Awards and Best Male & Artist Of The Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards. 2face showed he is still the undisputed unstoppable number one artiste in Nigeria. The album is just too original. Songs like Only Me topped the Naija charts for weeks.. Be there, original and remix versions were really off the hook. Implication was a major party song in 2010. Enter the place was also a hit. I can't select which one was hotter, Enter the place or Implication.. both had very nice videos.. same concept though. The album had the edge because it was a complete package. Apart from these earlier mentioned club bangers, it also had emotional songs like Emotions and Raindrops which is a tale about his life. For an album that sold for N1000 a copy and still did well commercially, 2baba's album was undoubtably the number one album of the year 2010.

DaWizard Rating

There were some other nice albums that were dropped but didnt make the list. Roc-A-lot's Yung Hanz missed out on the list but his album  was a hit and had the notable club banger, Display produced by rising producer, RayX. Skuki's B.A.N.G.E.R also brought huge ratings. Overdose's Hustle or Die was very good. 2Shotz's I am William was good. Ruggedman's Untouchable had some hit songs like Sanwo and She n' my swagger with Ice prince. Durella's Reconfigurated was also okay and YQ's i am YQ was a good effort. Duncan Mighty's Legacy was tight and got a lot of attention. Others like Ikechukwu's Alliance Reconstructed and Lynxx's This is Lynxx where released too close to the end of the year to get a full review.

2011 is just around the corner and there is still alot of anticipated albums from artiste like Mr Endowed, D'banj, and Bracket. We also await 9ice's Bashorun Gaa album, I wonder what his reply would be to Ruggedman's bonus track on his Untouchable album. Naeto C's SuperC Season has as much hype and buzz as MI2, the movie. Young female rapper Eva's GIGO EP is expected next year and Tiwa Savage who dropped the hot single Kele Kele is also expected to drop her album next year also.. The Empire Mates boys WizKid Ayo Balogun who has so much fans and Raoul Skales are also expected to drop their albums next year but arguably the most anticipated of them all would be that of Choc Boy, Ice Prince Panshak Zamani who's hot single Oleku is already being sang in almost every club and radio station you listen to and even being remixed by Ghanaians!. 2011 promises to be even greater than 2010.. We hope to listen to even better music next year and we keep our fingers crossed in anticipation.. Season's greeting my fellow bloggers and followers.. See you next year!

Asa's "Beautiful Imperfection"

OK Ok, There has been a lot of talk about Asa and how she is one of Naija's hope for a Grammy Award. Asa's second album, Beautiful Imperfection is Music of the soul and if you listen to this album you would realise why people think she can win the prestigious music award. I personally have no doubt that she would she would get nominated within the next few years. Beautiful Imperfection, just like her first album, Asha [2007] is a mindblowing R&B/Soul Album and just like the first album that had instant hit tracks like Fire on the Mountain, Jailer and Bibanke, Beautiful Imperfection has songs like QuestionsBimpe, Ok Ok, Baby Gone and Be My Man which also has a very impressive video..

Asa, pronounced, Asha which means "Little Hawk" was born in 1982 in Paris, France.. Her real name is Bukola Elemide. She attended Peter King's Music School and learnt the guitar. She returned to France to pursue her career in music.. This young talented singer-guitarist got inspired by the works of legends like Macy Gray, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She did a collaboration Manu Dibango and is currently signed to the French Label, Naive Records.

Asa's music is heavenly and different from d usual and this is gaining her a lot of recognition and fame.. In 2008, she won the Prix Constantin Award in France and she has been previously nominated for the MTV African Music Awards.. Her Beautiful Imperfection album which was released on October 25th has been shortlisted as one of the best albums of the year by iTunes France and it is also making waves in other European countries like Germany and Switzerland. I think she is one Nigerian artist that should be emulated by her compatriots.

“I want my music to touch people. As an African, I want to give hope back to my people, but also to speak in their name. I want to show the world that something beautiful and positive can come out of the black continent and inspire young people all over the world.” ~ Asa

Who needs Tracy Chapman when we've got Asa. This is a five star compilation!

"State Of Surprise" Album Review

Real names Olanrewaju David Ogunmefun. Stage name.. Vector tha Viper.. also known as V.E.C... The State of Surprise album S.O.S was released in October and I rate it highly.

Vector, who is signed to YSG entertainment is new on the block and has surprisingly brought high ratings to himself with his free flowing rap style which incredibly sounds like American rap icon, Shawn Carter. I first noticed him on the verse he did on General Pype's award winning song.. Champion Remix. He seemed to keep that friendship going when he did a collabo with General Pype and Ade Piper for one of his hit tracks Mary Jane Remix. He also featured 2baba himself, Tuface Idibia in Get Down which sounds original to me.. though his critics still accuse him of copying JayZ's style.. I especially love the track about Nigeria...I luv U Nigeria, which explains how beautiful she is and what the Nigerian flag symbolizes.. He features some talented acts like Emmsong.. Who killed it in Kilode

"Franchise Celebrity" Album Review

Young Music Diva, Mo'Cheddah has dropped the Franchise Celebrity album. She is one of the hottest new generation artistes in Naija at the moment and I love the way she has created a niche for herself in the industry. Franchise Celebirty has hit songs like  Ko Ma Roll and If You Want Me. These songs made airwaves when there were previously released and brought Mo'Cheddah further into the limelight. The Knighthouse First Lady's First Album is one which I rate highly and one which you should buy for yourself.. Its good music all round. Her Fuuji is on point! She just won the Most Gifted Female Video at the Channel O Music Video Awards
